Race Sim Zone
A Mobile App for a Sim-Racing Lounge

To enhance the customer experience for a premier sim-racing lounge, I developed a dedicated mobile app for iOS and Android. The app serves as a central information hub, allowing customers to book racing slots and easily register for events.

The Challenge:
Reducing Friction for a Brick-and-Mortar Business

Race Sim Zone offers a high-quality, in-person sim-racing experience. However, their booking and event registration process relied on manual methods, which was cumbersome for customers and created administrative overhead for the staff. They needed a dedicated mobile touchpoint to streamline communication and make it as easy as possible for customers to book a session and join events.

The core challenge was to create a user-friendly mobile application for both iOS and Android that would serve as the central hub for a racer’s needs.

My Approach:
A Focus on User Convenience

My goal was to build a clean, fast, and intuitive app that customers would actually want to use. I focused on the most critical user journeys: getting information, booking an appointment, and signing up for a race.

Cross-Platform Development with Ionic

To efficiently serve the entire customer base, I chose Ionic/Capacitor to build the application for both iOS and Android from a single codebase. This web-native approach allowed for rapid development and ensures a consistent, high-quality user experience across all devices, all managed from a single, streamlined project.

Simplified Workflows for Higher Engagement

I designed the UI to be simple and task-oriented, but powered it with robust features managed by a Strapi CMS and an SQLite database. Key features include:

  • Seamless Slot Booking: A clean and simple calendar view for reserving racing simulators.
  • Easy Event Registration: A one-click sign-up process for upcoming race events, eliminating the need for phone calls or emails.
  • Backend-Driven Push Notifications: To keep users engaged, I implemented a push notification system. Important updates, event reminders, and special offers can be triggered directly from the Strapi backend, giving the staff a powerful tool to communicate with their customers in real-time.

The Result:
A Tangibly Improved Customer Experience

The final product is a practical tool that directly enhances the customer journey for Race Sim Zone’s clients. It empowers customers by putting bookings and information at their fingertips, while simultaneously reducing the administrative burden on the lounge’s staff.

This project highlights my ability to:

  • Understand the needs of a client-facing, service-based business.
  • Develop modern, cross-platform mobile applications using Ionic/Capacitor.
  • Integrate mobile frontends with a headless CMS backend (Strapi) to power dynamic content and powerful features like push notifications.
